DESCRIPTION:The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) Forum is the largest global\, abstract-driven research and advocacy conference on violence against women\, violence against children\, and other forms of violence driven by gender inequality. It brings together researchers\, funders\, practitioners\, policymakers\, activists\, and survivors every two (to three) years to connect\, learn and share. \n\n\n\nUSAID’s HEARD/ISC project is directly supporting two presentations: “The Power of Data to Action: Country Experiences and Lessons Following Violence Against Children and Youth Surveys (VACS)” and “Improving Wellbeing and Parenting Practices Among Refugees in Uganda: Effectiveness of the Journey of Life Intervention.”   \n\n\n\nThe “Power of Data to Action” presentation\, given by Together for Girls\, will highlight findings from the HEARD-conducted landscape analysis of country experiences with acting on VACS data. It will be delivered as part of a panel on violence against children on Tuesday\, Sept. 20\, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. local time. From ISC’s mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) portfolio\, Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) Uganda and Washington University in St. Louis will present on the Journey of Life intervention with a conflict-affected population living in Kiryandongo\, Uganda. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the next webinar in the MHPSS series on\, “Strengthening Maternal Mental Health in Special Populations: Implementation Challenges and Opportunities” on September 21 at 9am EST / 1pm GMT. \n\n\n\nWebinar Overview: This webinar will present implementation strategies for providing depression care and psychosocial support to vulnerable mothers in low- and middle-income countries\, highlighting key findings and lessons learned from the Baby Friendly Spaces program for refugee mothers in Bangladesh and the Maternal Depression Treatment in HIV (M-DEPTH) program for HIV-infected pregnant women in Uganda. An expert panel will provide perspectives on important challenges in the field and outline opportunities to advance maternal mental health care for special populations.
