Mental Health and Psychosocial Support
Low resource contexts facing complex humanitarian crises produce acutely vulnerable populations, including victims of torture. There is an urgent need for evidence-informed action to improve access to mental health and psychosocial support services (MHPSS). Through learning network development and implementation research, we strengthen the evidence base and partnered action for more effective MHPSS interventions policy and programs.
Our Approach
Learning Collaborative
Established in 2020, the MHPSS LC is a global network of practitioner and researcher pairings, policy-makers, donors and other stakeholders who regularly convene to collaborate on intervention studies, evidence-to-use products, and identification of emerging priorities in low resource settings. The group includes a network of more than 200 participants from more than 60 organizations across 20 countries. The LC has supported webinars, publications, and dissemination events. Evidence for Action
Policy and Programs
USAID’s HEARD project, ISC partners are landscaping community-based mental health programs and related policies in select countries within Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Our locally led partnered approach relies on review of existing literature and stakeholder network development—and is supported by the MHPSS Learning Collaborative. Products in development include a digital database and short summary report.
