Factors That Affect Quality of Care: Respectful Maternal Care Among Health Workers in Malawi

This presentation provides an overview of a study that was part of the Advancements in Postpartum Hemorrhage Care (APPHC) initiative, a collaborative research program focused on improving maternal and newborn outcomes & experiences, surveys of women giving birth and the providers who care for them, and recognizing that the facility environment is critical to improving quality. This presentation summarizes research that sought to determine health worker perceptions of person-centered maternity care (PCMC), understand the factors which predict health worker reporting of PCMC, and ways to improve quality and experience.
