Summary

Birth companionship refers to the psychosocial and practical support provided to a woman during childbirth. Results indicated that over 80% of delivering women had a birth companion during childbirth and the majority (96-99%) were satisfied and would recommend it to a relative (82-97%). The providers also appreciated the presence of birth companions.
